Latest News; the following are all expected to be with us (varying from absolute definites to probables, to possibles);
Sandy Brechin (Bùrach, Seelyhoo, The Sensational Jimi Shandrix Experience), John Sampson (Edinburgh Renaissance Band, etc., etc.),  Charlie Munro (Tempo Musical Productions, ex Scottish Opera etc.), Eilidh Steel (Heeligoleerie etc.), Cathy Peattie, Robin Harper, and of course The Tass Bar Session Band !
We also look forward to some world music from Tashi (Tibet) and Chilean singer songwriter musician Carlos Arredondo.
More News; There will also be a raffle, and some nice (as in good) prizes are already in hand or promised. If you're coming, any more donations of prizes would be brilliant. Tickets will be £1 each on the night only.
And More; We're producing a CD. Yes, a proper, professionally done, CD. Recorded at The Tass on 3 October, it will be on sale at The Big Play 2, price probably just £5 each !  And all the profits to Oxfam. Look back here in due course for online ordering. A wee bit of background;
THE SESSION; There's an open session at The Tass every Wednesday evening. It is largely populated by people who are doing (or have done) ALP Scots Music Group classes, and much of our repertoire is stuff that we've learned at these classes, much of which is common across many sessions. However, some of the folk who attend have moved on from being students and are quite proficient players, some now being tutors or playing in bands and doing odd gigs. So there's the whole range of experience and ability, which is why we're such a warm, understanding, and welcoming group !

Typically we'll have a few fiddlers, maybe one or two accordions, a whistle or flute, probably one or two guitars, a cello, sometimes a mandolin or banjo or bodhran - - - all depending on who turns up. Usually there'll be a song or two as well, but we're principally an instrumental session.

Part of the fun of these sessions is that you never know what it's going to be like. Sometimes it's quiet, other times there's a host of musicos. Or the punters in the bar are all talking over the top of us, or else they're sitting watching. And then we get visiting musicians - like the time the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra came in by chance and joined in !

THIS EVENT'S CAUSE; To relieve poverty and suffering. See this site for much more information and inspiration.
Last year we held "The Big Play" - we expected to maybe raise £30 or £40, and we pulled in almost £400 !  This year our ambitions are bigger, and the money we raise will hopefully relieve even more suffering.
